Twinges

You know the little feelings of loss, or grief you get? When June is over? At the last day of school? The sight of a friend's plane taking off? The empty mailbox, inbox, or twitter page? The end of your 51st year? (It's now my birthday month!)

Little dyings. Bits of our tarnished humanity showing through the moments of life. If, as we know, the fall leaves coming off the trees are necessary for new life, then any disappointment in life whether small or great is making way for something else.

After a setback Michael Hyatt, CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers prefers to say, "What does this now make possible?"
Oswald Chambers says that sorrow keeps us from being shallow. I hope so. But it depends on how you respond, doesn't it?

After all everyone has sorrow. But not everyone grows a deep soul. So keep breathing in a fresh breath of gratefulness and acceptance. And let things slough off, as they inevitably will. No use grabbing a scab and trying to make it grow back on. We can see the Havershams of the world doing that and it is not a pretty sight.
