Music Opens Doors

I talked with a piano student the other day who had an unusual experience during his vacation. Without his work at practicing piano, it would not have been nearly as  interesting, or unusual.

He vacationed in a major US city, and happened to stay next door to a newscaster from a major Station. (think three capital letters!) The family invited him over one day and found out he could play the piano. "A little" he told them.

He wowed them with a difficult piece he'd worked very hard on last year, and  endeared himself enough to get a visit to the newsroom, and pal around with them all summer.

I asked him if while he was practicing last year he could have had any idea what doors all his hard work might open up for him. You just never know...
